Nick Hudemka was born in Insinger, Sask in 1905 and found his way out to the Coast when he was a very young man where he worked in Theodosia Inlet for a time. In 1940 he was issued the last hand logger license in BC and worked selected areas around Powell Lake. He built several cabins and fashioned vegetable gardens around them.
He had a trap line and was in the main self-sufficient. He enjoyed his many friends and to this day his name is synonymous with hard work and ingenuity. Nick died in 1976 on Powell Lake, the place he loved and knew so well.
