The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is a non-profit, national organization promoting and serving community needs through local lodge volunteers. Members are admitted on the basis of following criteria: a person of good reputation, one who believes in a supreme being, one who is adherent to lawful government and is the age of majority. The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge # 63 of Powell River was created in 1923 and became defunct in 2006. While in operation, the Elks Lodge of Powell River was responsible for numerous charitable donations and events.
