John Campbell Collection.
John Campbell  (  1955 -   ) was born and raised in Powell River. His paternal grandfather R.H. Campbell came to Powell River in 1921 and was the first principal of the Powell River High School. His maternal grandfather R.J. (Bob) Southcott first worked for the PRCo. in 1915 as a carpenter in the townsite and moved his family to Powell River in 1927. His parents Winnifred ( nee Southcott ) and Ernie Campbell  had two other children.   Campbell worked in the Mill, achieved at a Second Class Power Engineering certificate and retired in 2010.   He is married and has one child.   An avid industrial historian, he wrote a book under the auspices of Norske Canada:  “HULKS, The Breakwater Ships of Powell River “in 2003.  He has also written a number of articles for mill and other publications.
The collection consists of photographs that are of family members including the Southcott family, Michigan Landing ( now known as Willingdon Beach ) the Townsite, Maple Ave and others and of a sous-fonds of Ernie Campbell.

Ernie Campbell ( 1910-1991 ) was  born in Charlottetown, PEI.   He served in World War 2 as a gunner in the Air Force and as an Artillery Gunner. He worked for the Powell River Company in the offices as an accountant, paymaster, and as Personnel Manager and between 1962-1975 he managed the Pipe Band.   He married Winnifred Southcott and they had three children.
The sous-fonds consist of personal records of Ernie Campbell.
