Biographical Sketch: Maud (? – 1925) and Al (? - ?) Frampton had six children. Frances (1888-1965), Dorothy (? – 1934), Keith (?) Mary (? – 1962). No mention is made of the other two children. Frances Frampton was born in England and emigrated to Canada in 1907 when she was 19 to settle with parents and siblings in Victoria, B.C. She graduated from Nurse’s training in 1915. She worked for the Columbia Coast Mission Hospital in Van Anda between 1915-1916 and then St Luke’s Hospital in Powell River from 1916-1925. After nursing in Kamloops BC she returned to England and nursed until 1951.Rosalie Frampton has compiled her grandmother’s letters and donated the extracts that she felt pertained to her Aunt Frances’s tenure of nursing while in the Powell River area.

Scope and Content: The collection consists of: 8 typewritten pages of extracts from Maud Frampton’s letters, 1 photograph album belonging to Maud Frampton and includes images of Powell Lake, ship ‘Princess Pat’, the ‘Pig and Whistle’ float house, Dr. Brouse, Miss Culham, Miss Lechie, Miss Webster, Miss Buchanan, Miss Milne, Miss Sparling, Miss [?] Clark, Mr Nello; 27 black and white photographs including:
Frances and Dorothy Frampton, Miss Sparling, Dr. Brouse, Interior view of St Luke’s hospital and staff quarters. 17 coloured slides including: St. Luke’s Hospital, Townsite, Boat Houses, Shingle Mill – Sing Lee block, St John’s Church, Ocean View Apartment, Ocean View Apartments, a photo of Bill Barclay and a clipping about Mary Frampton.
