Bob ( 1925-2007 ) and Mo ( 1924 – 1975) Gela started the first square dances in Powell River in 1955. Their first classes were in their kitchen at their home in Cranberry. They had four children. They formed a square dance club and were part of the group that organized use one of the Powell River Company bunkhouses in Timberlane used exclusively for square dancing. Dances were also held at the Lang Bay Hall and the a variety of clubs, called by Gela, put floats in the Powell River Exhibition parades.

The collection consists of a scrap book put together by Mo Gela. Includes photographs, newspaper clippings, tickets, programmes and other ephemera all pertaining to square dancing.
