William Winlow Johnson ( 1880-1975 ) was born in England. After leaving school he apprenticed as a carpenter. Finishing his seven year apprenticeship he built houses in Northumberland with his brother in law. He immigrated to Canada in 1903. Johnson worked on several hotels in Vancouver and in 1905 he joined the Canadian Pacific Steamship line as a carpenter on the Empress of India. He then started work with Northern Construction and worked on the building of the Great Northern Railway depot. He started a boat building business and when it folded he found work with B.C.. Boat and Engine and other small companies. During World War One he worked with the Canadian Australia Line and in 1917 he worked in the Western Canadian Shipyards which was operated by Northern Construction and became a foreman for the plant. He changed jobs a few more times but always within the building trade. He was commissioned to design and build a 90 foot fish packer the Kiltuish, which was completed and ran her trials 90 days after the keel was laid. He was then asked by Cameron Construction to come and work for them in Powell River building the Powell River Company dam. [Archives note: the raising of the dam ] That work extended to other contracts with in the Powell River Company mill. In 1926 he worked for the Powell River Company with the carpenters and millwrights until his retirement in 1947. He was married to Margaret ( 1881-1962 ) and they lived in the Edgehill area.

The fonds consists of a booklet of poems, three blue prints drawings of a fish packer boat and one photograph.
