Wilma Mitchell ( nee Pittendreigh ) was born and raised in Powell River. She left school, married and became a free lance artist and writer. She was given an award from the National Library of Poetry for her poem ‘ Sparkles in the Sand’ and “ Malaspina Skyfire. ‘
